With my brother on top of Katadin, the northern terminus of the AT.
It’s the night before Christmas…or at least it feels that way! Dave and I are staying with our friends Claude and Laura & their wonderful kids tonight near Columbia, SC – 4 hours from the start of the trail. We just had a great last dinner of home cooked BBQ and some great company.
Up in the morning early, John will drive with us to the start of the trail and then drive my car home. Claude will be hiking with us for the first 20 miles or so and then get picked up by Laura. And D and I are almost on our way.
4 or 5 miles tomorrow. I’m so happy to be here and just start walking. Sunny weather expected and nice temps. I’ll write soon from the trail…
