Today may have been my best day on the trail. I spent the morning eating Howard Johnson’s continental breakfast and catching up on the first place Red Sox, finished my pizza and packed up. Rockhound and I hit the trail & Hoplite detoured to the post office.

We were effortlessly flying today, taking a leisurely break, enjoying the flowers and waterfalls and still making our intended destination by 4:30. I saw my first rhododendron blossoms opening in the late afternoon.

After a break at the Wilson Creek Shelter with Rockhound, Hippie, Dharma and Aussie John, I decided to make some miles and hiked another 7 to this shelter where the flowers were brilliant in the fading light. Hopefully they will be just as pretty tomorrow.
