This shelter is divine. Even if it hadn’t saved my slightly damp ass from an impending thunderstorm it would still be one of the nicest of the trail. It has 8 bunks, a great deck, a table, and it’s new, clean and dry! Don’t forget dry!
Since none of the lightning strikes were within 1,000 feet, life is, again, awesome!
I walked with Einstein, Rockhound & Hoplite again today. We didn’t talk much–just hiked and hung out for 2 hours at Caladonia State Park. It was cooler, sunny and beautiful. The padding in the heel of my shoe is wearing thin, but I should have a new pair waiting for me 30 miles up the trail.
I’m staying in my half of the shelter with Condor, Alabama, and one section hiker tonight. The air is cool and it should be a great night for sleeping, assuming the bugs don’t get too frisky.
Rockhound is off the trail tomorrow through June 2nd, so I’m enjoying my last time with him for a while.
Tomorrow is my half-way point and contains some great level and downhill trial—it should be great!
