Did I mention that I’m in Maryland? It’s my only whole day hiking in MD! Tomorrow we hit Pennsylvania!

I walked an easy 16 miles today with Rockhound. Hoplite caught up at lunch and the crew was together again! We also met Sugardaddy and are camping with a big crew of hikers tonight: Rockhound, Hoplite, Einstein, Traillite, Swiss Miss, Fireball, section hiker Rising Star and backpackers Dave & Rich.

Maryland’s high point is 1,880 feet. There are no big hills on the AT in the entire state! Instead we walked through scenic areas and battlefields. We did have an encounter with some nasty rocks again as well. That’s foreshadowing  the PA rocks that are about 7-10 days in the future.

I had an absolute laugh riot over lunch with the guys. There is such variety out here. I hiking a week alone and am then surrounded by more than I can handle the next day. Now it is winding down; Rockhound is journaling, Hoplite is using his pocket mail, the rest are just chatting. The nights are getting hot and my sleeping bag is useless. The silk liner is even too hot at the moment. The good new is that the bugs are still mostly behaving and staying out of our way.
