Miles To Go
This morning’s breakfast was the low point of the day. Thinking about staying at the Quality Inn in Harper’s Ferry? Don’t do it!
The good stuff? Walking the bridge over the Potomac with Mom & Dad was the best. I’m glad Mom had a chance to walk a flat section of the trail with me. She’s always been one of my biggest supporters! Walking out of town with Rockhound again was real nice too. Saying good-bye to my family was tough, but I am looking forward to walking on a bit less of a schedule.
It was easy walking through a cicada-infested woods. We’re entering a 100 mile flatter stretch and should make some good miles as long as the rocks don’t get too bad on the trail. I’m carrying a full, 6-day food bag for the first time in two weeks, I’ve been so spoiled!
We crossed into Maryland today. After 5 weeks in Virgina, West Virginia was gone in just 17 miles and Pennsylvania is only 25 miles away!
I met Swiss Miss yesterday and spent time with her again today. I also hiked with Alpro briefly and met Traillite. There are lots of weekend and day hikers as well.
I ordered a replacement pair of Merrell Chameleon Ventilators today. The pair I’m wearing started losing the heel padding after 300 + miles—that’s too soon! REI will do a warranty return and I’ll get the new pair in Boiling Springs, 83 miles north.
We enjoying the dry day so far. I hope it holds overnight!
