It was a great day! I woke up with tons of energy and put in 25 miles over some pretty terrain. I saw my third bear in as many days, got some trail magic soda (thanks Itchyfoot!), and some drink mix and water (thanks Desperado.) Now I am tenting on a former thru-hikers property near the shelter he built for thru-hikers. And I’m being serenaded by his pair of donkeys. Perhaps serenaded isn’t the right word…

The pavilion on top of Sunrise Mountain was cool, built all of rock and wood. I took some time to catch up with some calls to family & friends since I was alone and there were nice views both there and at a few other points today.  The bear I saw was about a 250-300 pounder and run away when he heard me. Boy can they move!

I’m staying with Skyline and Sundance, Chris, Anna and Beau, Tarzan and Mouth tonight. Hoplite is still behind me.

I’m looking forward to an easy day tomorrow or Sunday. We’ll see how I feel in the morning. Might be a good day to sleep in a bit if my body lets me!
