Hey! I am going to get married a year from today! Heather, thanks for transcribing my journal and saying “yes” a year ago…

I was up and hiking by 7am this morning, walking with Condor, Einstein, and Rockhound. We played deep, thoughtful games like “words that begin with the letter ‘b'” and the miles rolled along, I talked with section hiker Recon for a while. He was finishing his section in Hanover and taking a bus to Cleveland tonight. We reached Hanover at 12:30, crossing the VT/NH border, entering our 13th, and 2nd to last state!

I spent the afternoon in the space provided by the Dartmouth Outing Club on the Quad. The rain finally went away around 10 am and I was able to dry some gear out. I made a number of phone calls too, catching up with Heather & my brother and arranging with family friend Paul Fleming to backpack in the northern Presidentials next week.

After a great dinner & beer, we hit the food co-op and then headed ½ mile out of town and up a mountain to the next shelter.

Any day the sun comes out is a good day in my book!
