So much of this hike has been on new trails; places I’ve never been before. That makes it so much more fun to visit the places I have been to before as a part of this hike. It gives ’em a much bigger feeling with more meaning. Ethan Pond is a place where I have winter hiked before, but I can’t remember seeing it without snow. It’s cool to be here tonight, listening to the moose splash in the pond in the darkness.
Rockhound, Einstein and I put in a long day, hiking almost 16 miles past Galehead & Zealand Huts, over South Twin & Mt. Guyote to get here. The peaks were misty and breezy, the lower elevations often sunny and we caught our first good view of the Presidentials this afternoon.
Condor is here with us now. Rockhound and I will be leaving at 7am to meet up with Paul Fleming and climb up into the Presidentials. I hope the weather doesn’t get any worse!
