Miles To Go
It was a nice day of hiking with my Dad and Green One. We had some rain, some thunder, lots of poison ivy, some rocks and great company. Obviously, great company is far more important than the rest!
The rocks were the story today. It appears the Pennsylvania rocks start a little bit south of PA from the look of things! They were pointy and frequently covered the whole trail. My dad twisted his ankles a few times but did well over the 9 miles. Green One’s packing up his hiking gear for a while—he is done with it for now.
I got to sign in at the ATC (Appalachian Trail Conference) HQ and have my picture taken for their thru-hiker book. Turns out I’m the 104th thru-hiker of the year to come through Harper’s Ferry. We had a relatively crappy dinner buffet at the Hilltop Hotel testaurant and a couple of really good Scrabble games with my bro, then Mom & I beat David & Dad by one point in the finale.
I’m dry and clean again and glad my dad survived his birthday on the AT!
